The project DUO ARCOINCANTO (Arco In Canto, literally "the bow in the voice”) was founded in 2010, with the idea of a merger between the world of voice and that of the instrumental.
Assuming that the sound of the cello, throughout its extent, is the human voice, the intention is to reproduce, through dialogue between cello and piano, the most beautiful melodies of the vocal repertoire, ranging over historical periods and genres, from the Baroque to the contemporary music, through the golden age of the Belcanto.

Giacomo Grandi and Christophe Sturzenegger meet more than 25 years ago in their studies at the Geneva Conservatory. Afterwards, they  continue the one in Italy, graduating in cello at the Conservatory Morlacchi of Perugia and perfecting at the Chigiana Academy of Siena and at the International Academy of the Trio of Trieste, the other getting, at the Conservatory of Geneva, diplomas in piano, French horn and composition.
 
After years of activity as the first parts of major orchestras in Switzerland and Italy, as the Malher Youth Orchestra, the Opéra of Zurich, the Symphony Orchestra of Basel, the International Orchestra of Italy and the symphony orchestra of Rome, performing with conductors such as Abbado, Levine, Ashkenazy,Penderecky, Maga, Barshai, Shambadal,  Giacomo and Christophe decide to pursue a solo career, chamber musician and freelance.
Their activity is taking place in Europe, Russia, USA, South America, South Africa, Japan, China, in which the Festivals of Salzburg, Verbier, Aix en Provence..

Winners of national and international competitions such as the Piazzolla of Udine, the Rospigliosi, the competition Swiss Association of Musicians, the Göhner Award, the Riddes, the Neumann, have held several recordings for the VDE-Gallo, Media sound art and music magazine Amadeus.

Parallel to their concert career, both focus on teaching.Christophe,as piano and harmony-at-the-keyboard teacher at the Music High School of Geneva"; Giacomo, through his training in Bioenergetic Analysis and Conductor classes of bioenergetic exercises, in researching the relationship between music, instrumental technique and interpretation, and body awareness.

The DUO ARCOINCANTO offers different themed programs, highlighting a country (German lieder, melodies of Slavic countries ...), or the Opera, in the opera, Italian, French, German (Carmen, Barber of Seville, The Marriage of Figaro, Tosca ..).
The DUO also offers a trip in the Original Broadway musicals (Bernstein, Sondheim,...).

The DUO ARCOINCANTO also employs professional singers, allowing the cello to communicate with the voice through the most famous duos in the history of opera. All this without forgetting the original repertoire for cello and piano, full of inspired songs, especially, the most famous titles in the operatic tradition.

In each program, the DUO will give everyone the opportunity to discover the tremendous potential of tonal color and expressive, the result of the merger between the human voice, cello and piano.

In September, 2013 the Duo Arcoincanto has the privilege to be invited for 2 concerts to the "Schubertiade d' Espace 2", biennial Festival of the Radio Suisse Romande.
